== Founding ==
SomeBois started 2swagg wanting a board that fit neither of what they saw as the two dominant kinds of imageboard: the older, anime-focused "oldfag" sites on one side, and the [[Rivalries|soyjak.party splinter boards]] on the other. Their view is that imageboard culture had stopped producing anything new, that people had been "laughing at the same things for five years," and that the moderation on existing sites was unreliable. SomeBois's stated conclusion was that they could run a site better than anyone else.

The name came from '''Mecka''', who coined "2swagg"; the group wanted something "with swag," and 2swagg was it.

SomeBois has settled it: 2swagg went live on '''13 August 2026'''. The plan had been the 10th, but SomeBois slept through it; the retry on the 12th ran past midnight, so the first posts landed on the 13th.
