Site history
A timeline of 2swagg, from the site's own changelog, blotter, the accumulated backup files that record how its pages changed in the first weeks, and accounts from Taro.
Pre-launch
Per Taro, building started roughly a month before launch, so around mid-July 2026. The first attempt ran on the leaked original 4chan engine, which the team found unworkable. They switched to an engine written by Yushe, a large improvement, which Yushe handed over with little discussion. It is what the site still runs. Taro was the developer and did the security work on it.
Founding date
The site gives more than one launch date, and the reason is now understood: the operator edited the homepage's "went live on" line twice.

So the FAQ (8/10) and the current footer (8/13) are two different things the operator wrote at two different times, not a copy-paste slip. Which one counts as "the" founding date is the operator's call. See 2swagg wiki:To do.
Original positioning
At launch the site described itself as "the premier imageboard for humor, original content, and raiding discussions," with the tagline "Humor so advanced that no one man can truly understand it." By mid-August this had been softened to the current "off-color, absurd-humor, spamming and raiding website."

Rules and policy evolution
Reconstructed from the site's own edit backups. The overall direction in the first two weeks was loosening, plus tone cleanup.
- 14 Aug (evening): deleted Rule 13, a blanket ban on pornographic content. A real, substantive change to what is allowed.
- 14 Aug: a nested "camgirl orbiter" sub-rule was left mis-numbered after Rule 13 went, then fixed the next morning.
- 15 Aug (morning), in one batch: removed the camgirl/orbiter rule entirely; removed a rule against organising raids on something called only "SNG"; loosened the anti-advertising rule so it no longer explicitly bans promoting other imageboards. Discord, Telegram and crypto ads stayed banned, with a harsher penalty than other categories.
- 15 Aug (afternoon): cut a promo line that had given 2swagg Pass holders a "Free Pass out of any minor offenses". The Pass kept its CAPTCHA-skip; it lost the rule-leniency perk. The homepage self-description was softened the same day.
- 17 Aug: trimmed doxxing-adjacent language from the pedophilia and terrorism rules, which had each ended "...your anonymity is not a priority".
Ban log iterations
Right after launch the public ban log went through four formatting revisions in about two hours (name sanitization, capcode colours, tripcode colours, then an HTML double-encoding fix). A small concrete example of how fast the site iterated early.
Boards no longer active
- /qdl/, titled "Shitposting+", existed and was later fully retired. Its launch and retirement dates are not recorded.
- /420/ and /vip/: unused banner art exists, neither is wired into the live site. Whether they ever launched is not confirmed.
