SomeBois
SomeBois is the founder and administrator of 2swagg. The FAQ names them as "the Current Administrator and founder of 2swagg," and every changelog and announcement post on the site is signed by this handle, so most of what the public knows about how the site is run comes through SomeBois.
Founding
SomeBois started 2swagg wanting a board that fit neither of what they saw as the two dominant kinds of imageboard: the older, anime-focused "oldfag" sites on one side, and the soyjak.party splinter boards on the other. The goal was a site that was neither, with room to grow its own culture.
The name came from Mecka, who coined "2swagg"; the group wanted something "with swag," and 2swagg was it.
Launch date
Per SomeBois, 2swagg went live on 13 August 2026. The plan had been the 10th, but SomeBois slept in and missed it; the next attempt, on the 12th, ran so late that it was already the 13th. The "8/10" still in the FAQ is a leftover. See Site history#Founding date.
SomeBois has been cagey about some background details: asked whether "2swagg community support LLC" (the footer line) is a real registered company, the answer was that it is "leftover by accident"; asked about earlier communities they had run, they declined to say.
The build
The site was first set up on the leaked original 4chan engine (Yotsuba), which SomeBois found bad and hard to work with. The project switched to an engine by Yushe that SomeBois calls the "3chan engine". "Never use Yotsuba" has been a running joke on the team since then. Taro was the developer and handled security; Princess, who runs the imageboard 4chon, let SomeBois take assets from it for the new site.
SomeBois estimates the project had been in the works for around 150 days by late August 2026, and says the site was in an "okay" state on launch day, with features added steadily since. (Taro dates the focused build to about a month before launch; see Site history#Pre-launch.)
Role and moderation
SomeBois holds both the Founder and Admin capcodes. Board launches, the textboards rollout, 2swagg Pass, and the forced-anonymous switch on /raid/ were all announced by them.
Asked what the job actually involves day to day, SomeBois's answer is blunt: mostly removing illegal content, chiefly CSAM, and stopping raids against the site, on repeat. They no longer track hours spent, and would not give a mod headcount.
SomeBois has said the site runs at a loss financially.
"Swaggbois", a handle sometimes seen on the boards, is not an alias of SomeBois; per SomeBois it is just a nameroll name.
Voice and announcements
SomeBois's announcements set much of the site's tone: short, enthusiastic, in imageboard vernacular. A few that stand out (full list on Site history):
- the launch post, "WELCOME TO 2SWAGG!!!", thanking Yushe, Taro, and Princess
- the 15 August 2026 post on ads that looked official: "that wasnt me or my mod team, just an overzealous group of users. (dont make me... ;_;)"
- the satirical SomeBois Guide for New Users on the rules page, written in their voice
Interview answers SomeBois has given for this wiki are written in a deliberately crude style; this page reports the substance in a neutral voice rather than quoting it.
In site art
SomeBois is drawn as a small white cat in a red shirt, usually lettered "SOME BOIZ", sometimes with a Japanese headband. Most 2swagg character art is by Slashstabslice, the site's main artist, including the "A GIFT FROM 2SWAGG TO JAPAN" drawing (13 August 2026), which shows the SomeBois cat alongside Swaggtan in a kimono. The individual portrait used in this article's infobox has not been separately confirmed as theirs. See Site history.
